Eligibility of a candidate is judged for Air Force AFCAT based on 2 criteria which is - education and age. You need to fulfill the following Railway eligibility standards to apply for the Air Force AFCAT exam.

Age Limit for Air Force AFCAT Exam

Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry

Minimum Age: 20 years

Maximum Age: 24 years

Commercial Pilot Licence Holder

Maximum Age: 26 years

Ground Duty (Technical & Non-technical) Branch

Minimum Age: 20 years

Maximum Age: 26 years

Air Force AFCAT Educational Qualification

1. Flying Branch


Candidate must have passed Graduate in any discipline (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level)/B.E/B.Tech from a recognized University.

2. Ground Duty (Technical) Branch

(a) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)}:

Candidate have a minimum of 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated Post-Graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from recognized University.

(b) Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}:

Candidate have a minimum of 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from recognized University.

3. Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches

(a) Administration & Logistics

Candidate have a Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent

(b) Accounts

Candidate should have B.Com. Degree (Minimum three years degree course) from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

4. NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch)

Candidate should have NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate acquired on or after 15 December 2015 and should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 & should be a Graduate with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

5. Meteorology

Candidate should have a Post-Graduate Degree in any Science stream/ Mathematics/Statistics/Geography/Computer Applications/Environmental Science/ Applied Physics/Oceanography/Meteorology/Agricultural Meteorology/Ecology & Environment /Geo-Physics/Environmental Biology with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level with a minimum of 55% marks in each).


What is the Air Force AFCAT Selection Procedure & Exam Pattern 2020?

The selection process for the Air Force AFCAT exam consists of 2 stages, which are:

1) Online Written Test

2) SSB

- You will be allotted 3 marks to every right answer.

- Negative marking - Your 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

- It is mandatory for you to opt for Ground Duty (Technical) branch to appear in both AFCAT as well as Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).

B. SSB

If you qualify the Online AFCAT Test, you will become eligible to appear for SSB. The SSB is a process of 5 days
